Preparing and Submitting a Grant Application

An organization's Mzuri Wildlife Foundation grant application should be in the form of an original signed letter, on the organization's letterhead, addressed to:

The letter must address the following topics:

  1. The requesting organization's name, tax ID number, and its mission statement.
  2. The organization's mailing address, its website address and the contact information for the officer(s) responsible for directing the funding.
  3. The amount of the grant request.
  4. A detailed description of how the proposed grant will be spent, if awarded, including:
    1. The goal(s) of the work or project to be funded by the grant.
    2. How success of the project will be measured and reported to the MWF.
    3. A breakdown of the total costs of the project including an itemization of how the MWF grant will be spent.
    4. An explanation of how the organization will provide the MWF with an accounting for its use of the funds.
    5. An explanation of how a MWF trustee liaison will be provided access opportunities to observe the project and its progress.
    6. The expected duration of the work funded by the grant, and the anticipated impact on wildlife or wildlife education.
    7. If the grant is to be combined with other monies, an explanation of the source of those funds.
    8. Identification of past and current grants from other organizations.
    9. How the organization receives public recognition for its work and acknowledges its sponsors and donors.
  5. By submitting a grant application, the submitting organization, its members and all affiliates acknowledge and agree that the MWF reserves the right to refuse to consider any application for any reason, or for no reason, in the sole and exclusive discretion of the MWF, and that no contract is intended nor created by the submission, or acceptance for review, of any application for grant funding, and that by submitting any application(s) for funding, the submitting persons, organization and/or its affiliates acknowledge and agree that all legal remedies, including implied remedies, for refusing to consider or fund a grant request, are waived to the fullest extent permitted by law.
