Becoming an Outdoors Woman
CWA integrated the Becoming an Outdoors Women (CA) non-profit program into California Waterfowl Hunting Heritage programs in 2015. CWA has effectively “rescuing” the efforts of BOW-CA.
The California Waterfowl Association is a statewide nonprofit organization whose principal objectives are to conserve California’s waterfowl, wetlands and hunting heritage.
During the 2016-17 fiscal year, CWA will host events throughout California including a sporting clays/fun shoot, 2-4 waterfowl hunts, 1-2 pheasant hunts, a fly-fishing clinic and a multi-course workshop. Total opportunities offered will be for between 200-250 attendees. Specific dates and total events is still currently in the works. CWA has created a web page that will include these events as they are finalized. www.calwaterfowl.org/cwa-bow.
Passing the Torch
In December, 2015, BOW Coordinator Susan Hergesell retired and the BOW California “torch” was passed on to CWA. California Waterfowl – Becoming an Outdoors Women now exists to give woman the opportunity to be part of our outdoor heritage by carrying many of the events that were part of BOW-CA. CWA Heritage programs have been in existence for over 10 years and have included women’s outreach events for much of that time. CWA’s commitment to providing skills building and safe, fun opportunities for everyone who wishes to enjoy California’s great outdoor recreational traditions is second to none.
