Kids Outdoor Sports Camp founder Judy Oswald receives $20,000 donation from Mzuri Wildlife Foundation President Kevin Destruel. This donation supports youth hunter education, youth shooting sports and camperships for disadvantaged youth. The photo above features all the staff from the Red Bank Outfitters in Red Bluff (back row) where the camps are held each summer.  Kevin and Judy are each flanked by KOSC board members Jim Yost and Jim Silvernail, who donates his time teaching fishing to youth campers.

How it Started

Kids Outdoor Sports Camp (KOSC) was started 18 years ago by Judy Oswald (back row, center) in an effort to help her children get a hunter safety certificate. Finding none easily available, she started KOSC. She has taught literally hunter safety and wildlife conservation to thousands of youth.

What Participants Learn

KOSC teaches kids about hunter education, hunter safety, rifle shooting, fishing, shotgun sports, archery as well as providing an enjoyable experience for all involved. KOSC provides an intensive week for the youth which includes classroom instruction and field experience. Successful completion of the written test provides participants with a hunter safety certificate qualifying them for their own hunting license. For more information about KOSC and how to sign up for future camps, please visit mykosc.org.

How Mzuri has helped

Mzuri Wildlife Foundation is one of the founding supporters of KOSC. The photo above was taken in front of the classroom building that MWF was instrumental in funding. Through the years, the MWF board of directors has proudly provided over $150,000 in direct assistance to KOSC.
